The Police Intelligence Service (PET) is launching a nationwide campaign on secure innovation together with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), the Danish Agency for Social Security and the Danish Business Authority. The background is that Danish companies, entrepreneurs and research environments are increasingly becoming targets for foreign states' attempts to gain access to critical knowledge and technology. This is stated by DI in a press release.
Accordingly, the Safe Innovation campaign is intended to equip companies and research environments against a growing threat in a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty and intensified great power rivalry. The campaign is being launched in a period characterized by increasing geopolitical uncertainty and intensified great power rivalry.
- Danish companies, entrepreneurs and research environments are increasingly becoming targets for foreign, hostile states that are trying to gain access to critical knowledge and technology, says Rasmus Anderskouv, head of societal security and preparedness at the Confederation of Danish Industry.
Knowledgeable knowledge risks disappearing
According to DI, billions of DKK are invested each year in the commercialization of Danish research through startups, innovation environments and companies with high research and development activity. This strengthens growth and employment, but at the same time increases the risk of knowledge being transferred in an unwanted or illegal manner.
- If valuable knowledge disappears from the country, it is not only a loss for the individual company. It can mean fewer jobs, weakened competitiveness, slower green transition and ultimately a more insecure Denmark. These are consequences that affect the whole of society – from the individual citizen to the state's overall preparedness, says Rasmus Anderskouv.
The campaign provides concrete advice and tools for companies and innovation environments. The message is that safety must be considered early and systematically – regardless of the size of the company.
The campaign will be rolled out from Monday, February 23rd with advertisements, outdoor and content on social media.
