European Energy and Centrica Energy have signed an agreement for the balancing and optimization of European Energy's PtX plant, which will produce green hydrogen at Måde near Esbjerg. The plant will be officially inaugurated on Monday and will produce around 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen.
The 12 MW plant is powered by two wind turbines, which are part of the Måde Wind Turbine Test Center, developed by European Energy with a total installed capacity of 16 MW. The turbines provide renewable electricity, which is used to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis with demineralized water. With the agreement, Centrica Energy will manage the energy production from the wind turbines and direct the excess production to the production of green hydrogen, European Energy said in a statement.
- The agreement with Centrica underlines the potential of renewable energy to create sustainable, green fuels and demonstrates our commitment to innovative sector integration, says Emil Vikjær-Andresen, EVP and Head of Power-to-X at European Energy.
Centrica Energy is also pleased with the agreement for the plant in Måde.
- I am proud to be partnering with European Energy on this project and look forward to further collaboration as the energy transition develops, says Kristian Gjerløv-Juel, Vice President for Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation at Centrica Energy.
