AABENRAA: Aabenraa Municipality marked the inauguration of the world's largest Power-to-X plant in Kassø on Tuesday and called the opening a milestone in the municipality's green investment.
The investment involves an active effort to make the area attractive for green investments, which has resulted in Aabenraa Municipality now also housing Northern Europe's largest solar cell plant and one of the world's largest biogas plants.
- We have shown ourselves to be a municipality that dares to jump on these green business adventures and be a green pioneer. We work strategically and long-term in our local planning and business strategy to make a difference in the agenda that the whole world is talking about, but that not everyone dares to act on. We are proud that we are chosen by major investors, among other things because our official treatment is confidential, flexible and efficient, says Mayor of Aabenraa Municipality, Jan Riber Jakobsen (C).
The PtX plant, built by European Energy, has a capacity of 52 MW and will produce around 42,000 tons of green fuels annually. The first delivery was refueled directly onto the ship Laura Mærsk, the world's first container ship to sail on green fuel.
Aabenraa Municipality is committed to achieving more synergy effects in connection with the PtX plant.
Therefore, the municipality has - as the first municipality in Denmark - employed a strategic business developer with the title Head of PtX Development to ensure full benefit from the development.
