On Tuesday, European Energy, in collaboration with Mitsui & Co., will inaugurate the world's largest commercial e-methanol plant in Kassø in Aabenraa Municipality. The plant will produce a greener and more climate-friendly form of methanol.
The hydrogen industry calls the opening of the world's largest commercial e-methanol plant in Kassø a crucial milestone in the development of Danish PtX production.
- It is an impressive achievement, and there is every reason to congratulate European Energy on the opening of the plant in Kassø. It is a pleasure to see how their hard work has borne fruit, says Tejs Laustsen Jensen, CEO of the hydrogen industry, and elaborates:
- The production of e-methanol in Kassø proves that the PtX opportunities are not just birds on the roof, but real solutions to real problems. It is a completely new industry, and the Kassø plant shows in the most outstanding way how green transition and business development go hand in hand.
The hydrogen industry emphasizes that e-methanol from the plant meets specific needs in shipping and shows that the industry is ready to deliver.
- But this requires political support and further investments in hydrogen and PtX expansion. Denmark must be much more ambitious, and partly exploit the opportunities for production support for PtX via the EU's Hydrogen Bank, and increase the requirement for consumption of green fuels in the upcoming VEIII implementation, says Tejs Laustsen Jensen.
