ISO 45001: That's why Dynamica Ropes is focusing on an even better working environment

Customers are demanding ISO certifications, which has led Dynamica Ropes to hire a QHSE system manager. After a year of work, the company has now achieved its third certification, because the working environment is also important for a company.

Dynamica Ropes produces, among other things, slings and other lifting equipment used in offshore energy, wind energy, heavy lifting, the maritime industry and the oil and gas sector. The company, located outside Fredericia, hired Helle Fischer Kudsk as QHSE system manager in February 2024. She brings experience from much larger companies such as Arla, Carlsberg, Stena Recycling and ISS than the approximately 30 employees at Dynamica Ropes.

Dynamica Ropes already had ISO certifications 14001 and 9001, which concern environmental management and quality management respectively, but more was needed.

- We want to create a healthy, safe and good working environment for our employees at Dynamica Ropes, so that we also show externally that we are good at our employees, explains Helle Fischer Kudsk and points out that it is also a customer request:

- It is something that our customers demand. These are all our customers, large and small.

That is why the company has now added another ISO certification, namely 45001.

- ISO 45001 focuses on preventive work with both physical and mental working environments. Here, the threads are gathered from the two other certifications that we already have. But you can easily have each of the certifications individually, she explains.

Catch things early

The working environment is also monitored through workplace assessments (APVs).

- We continuously do APVs at least once a year rather than every three years, as the law says. That is why we catch things early. The APV must also include the psychological working environment, and that is why we have launched an NFA-trivselsmåling, says Helle Fischer Kudsk and explains the background:

- We want the best for our employees, and when we asked the table about the psychological working environment, there was radio silence.

It is a completely anonymous well-being survey, where you cannot use gender, age or other parameters to figure out who the individual employee is.

- With the well-being survey, we can put everything into a system. If it shows something, we know what to do. It could, for example, be to create an anti-bullying policy or a behavior policy. We want to have it measured so that we know. There should be no one walking around complaining about something or other, she says.

The company has already focused on the area.

- We held a mental health day last autumn with funds from the Velliv Foundation. These are funds that anyone can apply for, explains Helle Fischer Kudsk.

The mental health day focused on conflicts, among other things.

- We had a work environment advisor out to talk about well-being with the theme: gunpowder, bullets and conflict, she says.

The work takes place in production

At first glance, you might think that Helle Fischer Kudsk's work primarily takes place at a desk, but that's not the case at all.

- Working environment cannot be managed behind a computer. You have to go out into production and be on the spot. I do safety rounds, where I, for example, look up to see if chemicals are in order and if fire equipment and exits are accessible, she says.

It is work that has borne fruit on several levels.

- We have moved forward, and for example, there are no longer any blocked fire doors. I am told every day: - How good that you have come, there is a greater focus on safety now, says Helle Fischer Kudsk and promises one thing:

- In years to come it will look even better. It is like turning a large tanker.
