Eifo and Novo Holdings invest in scaling up Danish PtX company

The Danish PtX company HPNow has developed and patented small electrolysis plants for local production of green hydrogen peroxide. This technology has now secured the company an investment of a total of DKK 105 million from, among others, Eifo and Novo Holdings.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a strong and biodegradable alternative to chlorine-containing products, and is used, among other things, for the purification of both drinking and wastewater in many industries worldwide.

It is thus a very useful resource, but today 95 percent of the world's production of hydrogen peroxide is produced in an energy-intensive and fossil-fueled process in a few large factories - and is then transported in high explosive concentrates and large quantities around the world.

The Danish PtX company HPNow from Søborg wants to do away with this. And it has already developed the method to do so. The company has developed a production plant the size of a small refrigerator that can produce the necessary amount of hydrogen peroxide for the current application locally using only water and electricity.

The idea has aroused interest among investors, and the company has just raised 105 million DKK in an investment round for the development of the company.

The money comes from, among other things, from new investors such as the Danish Export and Investment Fund, EIFO, and Novo Holdings and MatiTech – a South African provider of sustainable water purification solutions. HPNow's existing investors Evonik Venture Capital and AP Ventures have also contributed to the capital raising.

- Danish Power-to-X pioneers such as HPNow are leading the way towards a greener future. From agriculture to industry, their technology, originally developed at DTU, represents a market potential of several billion euros for sustainable water treatment, both when it comes to the environment, climate and economy, says Jonas Bjaaland, investment director at the Danish Export and Investment Fund.

The investment will be used to scale up HPNow's marketing and sales functions, technical support and production capacity.

- This new investment round, led by prominent investors such as EIFO and Novo Holdings, is a green signal of our technology and market potential. The investment enables us to take a major step forward in the company's development. With this strong support from new and existing partners, our company is poised to take sustainable on-site hydrogen peroxide production to the next level,” said Ziv Gottesfeld, CEO of HPNow.
