The Global Goals House has existed since 2017, but now the ownership of the company has been expanded to include Gert Barslund, Christian Juel Adamsen and Jesper Sloth with ownership shares of 50-25-25 percent.
Gert Barslund is a psychologist and already works full-time to spread the SDGs to children and young people in the Global Goals House. His partners, on the other hand, are firmly rooted in business. Christian Juel Adamsen is CEO and owner-manager of the engineering company Juel+Krøyer in Esbjerg, which, among other things, deals with PtX. Jesper Sloth is CMO at the turbine subcontractor Polytech in Bramming.
Christian Juel Adamsen and Jesper Sloth personally are co-owners of the World Goals House, but the experience of companies in the green industry is drawn on.
Collaboration in education
Over the past few years, the World Goals House, in collaboration with primary schools, secondary schools and universities, has had 3,000 young people through sustainability courses, where specific issues from companies have been included in the tasks for the young people.
- We would like to have the common thread from the school all the way to the company. For me as a business manager, it is also about giving young people an understanding of what we do. The young people also make my company better with their creativity, explains Christian Juel Adamsen, who has successfully applied the practical tasks from the World Goals House to his own leadership group.
Jesper Sloth already knows the work with sustainability well, because Polytech is one of the World Goals House's partners. He is also very clear about what needs to be achieved in the World Goals House.
- I know from my work with sustainability at Polytech that these courses provide much more than if I stand up and talk about sustainability for an hour. With our course, we put green change agents in the world, and that is what we want, says Jesper Sloth.
Want to spread the course to all of Denmark
How the green change agents are put into the world. Gert Barslund knows this.
- Our children need some tools to create the changes and thus a new green world, so we give them a concrete tool for exactly that, says Gert Barslund.
The World Goals House is located in Esbjerg, and so far the 3,000 young people who have participated come from the surrounding municipalities.
- So far, Esbjerg, Fanø, Varde, Vejen and Tønder have participated, but the goal is the whole country, says Gert Barslund, who is supplemented by his one partner.
- Our goal is to have had 15,000 young people through our course by 2025 across Denmark, says Jesper Sloth.
The World Goals House is not a social economy enterprise, but it is close. The company must pay Gert Barslund a salary and nothing more.
- We are not here to make a profit but to create green change, states Jesper Sloth.
There is one more advantage for companies, and it has something to do with increasing sustainability requirements. It is not unusual for subcontractors in the wind industry to experience this.
- Many companies find that the S in ESG (environmental, social and governance) is difficult to live up to, but here is an opportunity to live up to the requirement for a social contribution, concludes Christian Juel Adamsen.
