The development of the East Harbour in the Port of Aalborg is in full swing. The business area is growing rapidly, and this is due to the growth of the many companies. Some are expanding, the needs of others are changing, and new ones are being added. That is why the North Jutland port is now expanding its area, so that there is more room for growth among the companies in the port.
- Development projects and companies within the green transition are booming, and this requires space. That is why we are now expanding our area by 500,000 square meters, which we have purchased from our good neighbor, Aalborg Portland, says CEO of Port of Aalborg, Kristian Thulesen Dahl.
The wind energy sector is strong in Aalborg with large international frontrunners such as Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Bladt Industries, BLAEST and a number of subcontractors. And recently, Port of Aalborg has also announced agreements on a number of new projects in the port area.
Among other things, the establishment of Denmark's first large-scale CO2 reception facility from Fidelis New Energy and the relocation of Aalborg University's test facility to realize large-scale production of future green fuels such as e-methanol and hydrogen. In addition, European Energy is establishing a large PtX plant, which will be used, among other things, for the production of green aviation fuel, also one of the examples.
- I am incredibly happy that this deal for ½ million square meters has been successful, because large expanses are just a basic premise if this kind of project is to be possible at all. We need to have areas on the shelves so that we can meet our customers' needs when they need it - and not in a future that we do not know the time horizon for. It is crucial for companies that we can provide what they need if they are to be able to keep up with market developments, says Kristian Thulesen Dahl.
The purchase agreement for the area is in place, and the next step is the detailed planning of the use of the area and the projects that are in the pipeline. And this process will begin already over the summer.
