Since September 2019, production at Denmark's largest gas field Tyra has been at a standstill as the field has undergone extensive modernization. The restart has been postponed several times, among other things because the corona pandemic led to supply problems.
The current opening date for the field is currently set for 31 March 2024, and preparations for the restart of production are therefore in full swing and are progressing according to plan.
Although there are still a number of operational uncertainties in this final phase, the current project status indicates that the ambition to restart production on 31 March still holds. Depending on the progress of the project, this may even be achieved earlier in March. Test results now indicate that ramp-up to full technical capacity can be expected to take four months from restart. TotalEnergies said in a press release.
- We continue our Tyra journey and I am proud of what we have achieved so far. In the past year, we have worked hard, reached important milestones and brought the project forward towards restart. 2024 has started at a fast pace, and we have now completed more than 80 percent of the preparations for commissioning at Tyra East. With tests of all key facilities, we are now very close to being able to deliver the first gas, says Michael Lindholm Pihl Larsen, TotalEnergies' technical project manager for the Tyra Reconstruction Project.
More than 1,400 employees offshore and over 230 onshore are working on the final reconstruction activities. Right now, the team is performing the final tests, verifying the new equipment and systems, and there are still some areas that need to be fine-tuned.
TotalEnergies is the operator of the Tyra field on behalf of DUC – a partnership between TotalEnergies (43.2%), BlueNord (36.8%) and Nordsøfonden (20%).??
