Biogas Denmark proposes in a new political proposal that biogas becomes a central element in the energy system together with renewable energy and increased electrification, writes EnergiWatch.
"Biogas can deliver green energy precisely during periods when the sun and wind are not working. The biogas can be stored in Danish gas storage facilities and can be used in gas turbines and gas engines that can produce electricity for the grid in a few minutes. This makes biogas a flexible and reliable energy source that can balance and keep the electricity grid stable during periods without wind and sun," writes Biogas Denmark.
Biogas currently makes up around 40 percent of the gas grid, and the industry expects it to reach 100 percent. in the early 2030s with the right political framework.
