A new environmental impact report assesses the effects of establishing a new quay in Hvide Sande, and the report has now been sent for public consultation until August 11. Hvide Sande Port will expand with a New Northwest Quay to accommodate increasing activity. This is stated by the Danish Transport Authority.

The new quay will extend the existing West Quay and be used to handle service and materials for offshore wind turbines. It will be able to handle ships of over 1350 tons.

The report has been prepared by Hvide Sande Port, which is the developer, and describes both construction and operational consequences for the environment.

Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality is the authority for the land part of the project, including local plans, municipal plan amendments and operations, while the Danish Transport Authority handles the water side – including the establishment of quay walls, piers and filling.
