There is a need for more pace in case processing to maintain the momentum in the green transition and the electrification of the energy sector. This places new demands on the Danish Utilities Authority's case processing in key case areas.

Therefore, the Authority has chosen to elevate ongoing work to minimize case processing times in the areas in question to a strategic area of focus. The Authority has therefore updated its strategy "An effective supply supervision" for 2025. The strategy was originally presented in the second half of 2023. The Authority's mission with the strategy is "we create a framework for a well-functioning supply sector". The Authority states this in a press release.

- Our strategic efforts to reduce case processing times will take place within the areas where it is of greatest importance to the regulated companies. This initially includes our assessments of whether we can approve selected tariff methods in accordance with the applicable rules, says the Director of the Danish Utilities Authority, Carsten Smidt, and elaborates:

- The new strategic effort must be achieved, among other things, by cutting cases further and a new approach to deprioritizing cases.

The new strategic effort for case processing times falls under the strategy's benchmark "Effective authority". The strategy also includes the benchmarks "Visible effect", "Engaging dialogue", "High job satisfaction" and "Professional outlook".

- Our identification of areas where we will prioritize short case processing times will be done in close dialogue with the regulated companies and their industry organizations. We will also strive to uncover where we can use guidance to ensure comprehensive reviews that will support rapid processing, says Carsten Smidt.
