Equinor has entered into a long-term agreement with the Czech energy company Pražská plynárenská for gas deliveries to the Czech Republic for the next ten years. Deliveries have already started and will continue until 2035, Equinor said in a press release.
The gas will be delivered via the Norwegian Continental Shelf, which is Europe's most important energy province. Pražská plynárenská will use the gas to supply both households and businesses in Prague and other parts of the country with heat, electricity and natural gas.
- I am pleased that we have entered into this agreement with Pražská plynárenská and that we can now deliver energy to homes and businesses in the Czech Republic. This is yet another of several long-term gas contracts we have entered into in Europe in recent years, which shows the role gas plays in Europe's energy security, says Anders Opedal, CEO of Equinor.
Equinor has traditionally had its largest gas markets in Northwestern Europe and the UK, but the company has expanded its deliveries to, among others, the Baltics and Poland over the past ten years and now sees increasing potential in Central and Southern Europe.
The agreement runs until 1 October 2035, and deliveries will be made via the Czech gas hub. Information on volumes and terms is confidential.
