Cadeler has installed the first fully operational monopile foundation at Ørsted's Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the UK. This is a milestone in the work on one of the world's largest offshore wind developments.
The company writes in a press release.
The installation is the first of a total of 197 monopile foundations that are part of Cadeler's overall transport and installation task for the project.
When Hornsea 3 is completed, it will be the world's largest offshore wind farm with a total capacity of 2.9 GW. This is equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than 3.3 million British households that will be supplied with renewable energy.
For the first time, Cadeler has full responsibility for the entire transport and installation area for monopile foundations in the project. The installation is described as the result of several years of planning, engineering and coordination between onshore and offshore teams, as well as collaboration across vessels and project partners.
- This milestone is not just about the first structure in the ground – it marks an important step in our expansion into full transport and installation supply for foundations. Projects of this scale require close collaboration, detailed planning and strong execution at all stages, says Cadeler project manager, Bradley Scott. He continues:
- We are proud to support Ørsted on Hornsea 3 and grateful to all teams both offshore and onshore whose efforts and collaboration have enabled us to get here safely and successfully.
