American McDermott, which is the main contractor for the delivery of the large structures for the new Tyra field in the North Sea for Total, has gone into receivership. This is reported by JydskeVestkysten.
McDermott has been looking at restructuring the company for some time, which is why the receivership, which can be used as part of restructuring in accordance with the US bankruptcy law. McDermott therefore assures himself that the company's projects will continue as planned, and that all suppliers under McDermott will receive full payment as agreed, just as Total is not concerned about the project in the Tyra field.
- Leading up to McDermott's announcement of restructuring, we have been working to find solutions that can help limit the consequences for the Tyra project. With a large project like the reconstruction of Tyra, challenges must be expected. It is unusual for a major supplier to file a request to restructure the business, but we are well prepared and continue the constructive dialogue with McDermott and are optimistic about the deliveries we have agreed, Patrick Gilly, CEO of Total's activities in the Danish North Sea, said in a written statement.
