ADP receives millions in EU support for shore power at the Port of Fredericia

ADP has received approval for an application for 15.3 million DKK from the EU's CEF funds to establish shore-side power at the Port of Fredericia. Shore-side power will become a legal requirement in all TEN-T ports with a certain amount of container and RO/RO activity from the end of 2029, but with the support, ADP can accelerate the process and establish the facility as early as 2027, the port company said in a press release.

- We would in any case meet the EU requirements for shore-side power before the end of 2029, but with the CEF funds and based on positive dialogues with our customers, it gives us the opportunity to accelerate this and establish it during 2027, says CEO of ADP Rune D. Rasmussen.

The Port of Fredericia plays a central role for Danish imports and exports, and the port expansion has been part of the green transition from the start. With the support from the EU pool, ADP can accelerate the development of more sustainable port operations. This is also the second time in a short time that the port has received support from CEF funds. The most recent was in 2024, when ADP received around 50 million DKK in support for the port expansion at the Port of Fredericia.

- It was a great recognition of the Port of Fredericia when we received a commitment to support from the CEF funds in the summer of 2024, and we are incredibly proud of the fact that we are receiving this recognition once again. The Port of Fredericia plays a major role in supporting Danish exports and imports now and in the future. This requires us to adapt and retrofit our infrastructure so that it is suitable for the future. It is really great for us that this is recognized by the EU, states Rune D. Rasmussen.

More Danish projects receive support.

Danish projects have received a total of 94 million DKK in support DKK in support from the CEF funds this time. In addition to ADP, E.ON Drive has received DKK 33 million to roll out charging stations for light and heavy transport in Denmark, and the Dutch consortium Milance has received DKK 45.7 million to install charging stations for trucks in Denmark. The support pleases Minister of Transport Thomas Danielsen (V).

- In Denmark, we have a strong focus on the green transition and are already well underway in securing alternative fuels for transport, but there is still a long way to go before we are completely finished. The EU funding is helping to support the transport industry's transition, and the financial pat on the back is helping to accelerate the green transition even more, says the minister.
