ESBJERG: Søren Gade has been reappointed to the board of directors of the Port of Esbjerg for a new four-year period. This means that the Speaker of the Folketing will apparently continue as chairman of the board of directors of the port. The reappointment has been approved by a unanimous Economic and Settlement Committee in Esbjerg Municipality and includes all five business representatives who were previously on the board. This is reported by JydskeVestkysten.
Søren Gade's dual role has otherwise been criticized from several sides in the Folketing, but also locally. One of the most prominent critics locally is Frederik Vestergaard Jørgensen (S). He has, among other things, in the municipal election campaign pointed out the risk of integrity problems, including in connection with the location of a future construction of warships, which ended up in Frederikshavn. Despite the criticism, he has voted for the reappointment, as according to his own statements he cannot document that Søren Gade has had a direct negative impact on the Port of Esbjerg. Søren Gade rejects the criticism and sees the reappointment as a vote of confidence.
- On the other hand, I am very pleased that the board has been reappointed. In all modesty, I also think that the board is doing a good job together with the administration and management, and if you have any doubts about that, you can check the accounts and results - expansion of the port and the good future prospects with carbon capture and several other things that are in the pipeline. All the fine results that have been created in collaboration between the city council, the board and the management of the Port of Esbjerg for the benefit of the citizens of the municipality, which owns the port, says Søren Gade.
