In the fall, there were reports of unauthorized drone activity at Denmark's oil and gas fields. The drones in the North Sea followed in the wake of both the explosions of the Nordstream 1 and 2 gas pipelines and a similarly unidentified drone activity at the Norwegian oil and gas fields.
Common to the media coverage was that there were no photos of the drones, even though they led to police reports.
DOI.dk can now publish the first photo of a drone at the Tyra field. The photo was taken at the end of September 2022 at around 10 pm. The photographer has not been given permission to take the photo. DOI.dk knows the identity of the photographer and has promised anonymity. It has not been possible to have the photo verified by other sources.
When drone activity was at its peak in the fall of 2022, many rumors abounded in the Danish offshore industry. Since then, the drone rumors have completely died down, and there has been no news in the media about new drone activities at the Danish oil and gas fields.
DOI.dk has asked the South and South Jutland Police whether there are still reports of drones in the Danish part of the North Sea. The police district has recommended that access to documents about drone reports be sought from the National Police.
The anonymous photographer tells DOI.dk:
- It was there all of a sudden, and then I took the picture. The photographer is absolutely certain to have seen a drone late that evening at Tyra Field.
The drone image from the late September evening in 2022 at Tyra Vest, where the blue light in the sky shows the drone, the anonymous photographer tells DOI.dk. (Photo: Private/anonymous).
