The two Polish offshore projects, Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, have been given the green light by the regional authorities in Gdansk. The Polish Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) will be responsible for the project, which is expected to achieve a capacity of up to 2.5 GW. This is reported by Renewz.biz.

This allows PGE to proceed with the technical details of the project. In December, Ørsted announced that they had reached a preliminary sales agreement for 50 percent of the two offshore projects with PGE.

Baltica 3 is expected to be ready in 2026 and will be able to produce around 1 GW, while Baltica 2 is to be ready in 2030, where it will be able to produce 1.5 GW.

There are a total of 13 different offshore wind projects underway in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. Poland aims for 40 percent of the of its energy must come from wind.
