With a new agreement with the wind shipping company Cadeler, Ørsted has secured access to use one of Cadeler's new installation vessels for projects in the period from Q1 2027 to the end of 2030. Cadeler announced this in a statement.
Specifically, this involves the use of one of Cadeler's upcoming A-class vessels. These vessels are designed to transport up to six XXL monopile foundations per trip. In addition, they can be quickly converted from foundation installation vessels to installation vessels.
- Securing long-term capacity with strategic suppliers is key to Ørsted being able to build collaboration and jointly manage risks and execution of our offshore wind turbine construction program towards 2030 and beyond. Our partnership with Cadeler is an example of how Ørsted, as a market leader with a global portfolio of offshore wind projects, gives suppliers the clarity and scale they need to invest in new technology, organizational capabilities and – in this case – increase the supply of installation vessels, says Patrick Harnett, Chief Operating Officer at Ørsted.
According to Cadeler, long-term agreements, such as this one with Ørsted, are important for the development of the entire industry.
- We are ready to handle the largest and most complex next-generation offshore wind installation projects. Our ambition is to help our partners install and realize the offshore wind farms that are necessary for the world's energy transition, says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.
