Green energy projects often create debate in local areas because neighbors are not always satisfied with the placement of solar cells or wind turbines. Now the government is ready to meet criticism that many green energy projects lack local support, writes Jyllands-Posten.
Minister of the Interior and Housing Christian Rabjerg Madsen (S) promises in the newspaper that there will be compensation in the form of more kroner and øre to people who live in the areas where the wind turbines and solar cells will be located.
- We have agreed on several occasions between the government and the contracting parties to increase the bonus for living near renewable energy plants and to increase the green pool. At the same time, we will use the Planning Act to create additional degrees of freedom and better frameworks, the minister said in the newspaper on Thursday.
He is open to deviating from the Planning Act if it can support local projects. This could, for example, apply to the relocation of homes in the open countryside, the minister explains.
Travel team
In addition, Christian Rabjerg Madsen promises that a so-called renewable energy travel team will ensure that municipalities become aware of good green examples across city boundaries.
He does not want to eliminate the possibility of complaining about projects, but rather strengthen the processing of complaints so that they can be decided within six months. From 2025 to 2026, the government will allocate an additional 25.5 million kroner to facilitate this process.
Areas with many green projects will be supported via the Rural Development Fund with ten million kroner.
In June, a majority in the Folketing reached an agreement on the Planning Act. At that time, Christian Rabjerg Madsen said that it was crucial for the government that it would be easier to install wind turbines and solar cells in the future.
