RINGKØBING-SKJERN: It has caused unrest in the SF in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality that the party's three mandates in the municipality have supported Mads Fuglede from the Danish Democrats, as the new mayor of the West Jutland municipality that is laying the groundwork for the most renewable energy in Denmark.
Two of lead candidate for SF Niels Rasmussen's party members, including SF's local chairman in Ringkøbing, Gitte Tang Vestergaard, have resigned from the party as a result of the decision.
The other loud skeptic is the current city council member Pia Vestergaard, who did not run for re-election herself. Vestergaard does not believe that the Denmark Democrats are a party "that in any way has a policy in relation to green transition that I think SF can live with".
In addition, she accuses Niels Rasmussen of having been bought by promising him, for example, board positions or other 'legs' in return, she has stated to TV Midtvest.
Has received considerable concessions
These are accusations that Niels Rasmussen himself rejects. According to him, the Danish Democrats in Ringkøbing-Skjern have not made a single demand to the SF in the constitution that makes Mads Fuglede mayor.
- I have not received any demands from them. We have said what we want, and we have received concessions on that, says Niels Rasmussen, who has been elected to the city council for the SF in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, to RADIO IIII.
This has resulted in the party pointing to the Danish Democrats' Mads Fuglede as mayor of the municipality. Fuglede ran for the city council, among other things. with great aversions to the municipality's energy policy. And it is precisely in this area that Niels Rasmussen particularly points out that the Danish Democrats have given in.
- Quite considerable concessions are planned. The Danish Democrats have made concessions on the green transition. They have softened the resistance that has been against the installation of renewable energy plants (ed. including solar cell fields). They agree that it should be done through citizen involvement, and they will not block more renewable energy plants from being built, says Niels Rasmussen, city council member for SF in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality to RADIO IIII.
Also at the national level, the Denmark Democrats have waged a massive election campaign against the so-called "iron fields," as the renewable energy plants are called among their opponents, but according to SF they have now softened on that point.
After the party leadership debate on Monday, the leader of the Denmark Democrats, Inger Støjberg, for example, posted a video on the party's social media with the words:
- If you are against Denmark gradually being plastered with solar cells. Then it is the Danish Democrats that you should vote for.
Mads Fuglede will not comment on SF's statements, but refers to the fact that the constitutional agreement has not yet been finalized.
