Radius is investing a double-digit million in a new GIS system without SF6 gas as part of a major upgrade of the electricity grid around Hillerød. The system will be part of a transformer station and will be supplied by HD Hyundai Electric. Radius announced this in a statement.
Tomas Christensen, head of function at Nexel, which is responsible for the operation and expansion of Radius' electricity grid, states that the system will handle and protect the electrical installations, and that it will be the first of its type in the eastern Danish electricity grid.
- Billions of kroner are invested in the electricity grid every year, and at Radius and Nexel we want to do it in the most responsible way. This means, among other things, that we have an ambition to only purchase components without SF6 gas. We want to ensure that the electrification of society is based on the most sustainable foundation, says Tomas Christensen, Head of Function at Nexel.
The agreement between Radius, Nexel and HD Hyundai Electric includes a plant for the transformer station in Trollesgård as well as an option to purchase another plant. Delivery and installation are expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
