The vast majority of Danes believe that pension companies should continue to contribute to addressing climate challenges, even at a time when climate is less important on the political agenda. This is shown by a new Epinion survey conducted for the Sampension community among approximately 1,000 Danes.

In the survey, 68 percent responded that it is important that their pension company maintains its climate efforts and works to reduce CO2 emissions from investments.

- This is a sad development that has undoubtedly made the green transition more difficult. But it must not slow us down. On the contrary, it is more important than ever that we send a signal that the climate is not unimportant and that we are not throwing in the towel. This of course also applies to pension companies, and here we very much agree with the Danes, says Hasse Jørgensen, CEO of Sampension.

The Sampension community aims to reduce CO2 emissions from the investment portfolio by 45 percent in 2030 compared to 2020. The goal is for the portfolio to be CO2 neutral in 2050. Last year, emissions were 0.7 tons of CO2 per million DKK invested, which is ahead of the planned reduction targets.

- If we as a society are to succeed with the global climate goals, we need everyone to make their contribution and not to slacken our efforts. Quite the opposite, says Hasse Jørgensen.
