The offshore wind project Vineyard Wind, which is partly owned by the Danish asset manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has sued the US administration after an ordered halt to construction. This is reported by Finans, which has obtained insight into a complaint sent to the court in the state of Massachusetts. Vineyard Wind also confirms this to the media.

By going to court, the company hopes to be allowed to continue work on the offshore wind farm. Vineyard Wind is among the five offshore wind turbine projects in the US that the US administration stopped shortly before Christmas.

Empire Wind, which is being built by Norway's Equinor, and Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind, which Ørsted is in the process of building, are also among the wind farms that were ordered to stop work.

On Monday, Ørsted received the court's word that work on Revolution Wind can continue. The park is a joint project between Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables, which is a co-owner.

And on Thursday, it was the turn of the Norwegian company Equinor to be allowed to continue construction work on Empire Wind. According to Finans, Vineyard Wind has been producing electricity since 2025, but is not yet fully built.
