A new 121 MW solar power plant at Jomfruens Egede, located between Faxe and Haslev on Zealand, has moved one step closer to realization, while two other projects in Faxe Municipality have been rejected. The dropped projects included a plant at Høsten and a large solar power plant north of Haslev, which together would be able to supply electricity to over 80,000 households. This is reported by Sjællandske Nyheder.
Three applications for new solar power plants have been processed in Faxe Municipality. Only one of them – a 121 MW large solar power plant at Jomfruens Egede – has been approved for further processing. The other two projects, which were planned at Høsten and north of Haslev, have been rejected.
The committee rejected the project at Høsten on the grounds that the already locally planned solar power plant on 80 hectares north of Køgevej is sufficient in the area.
The largest of the three projects, the plant north of Haslev, would be able to supply 73,500 households annually, but was also rejected. According to the minutes, the reason was that the committee did not want to increase the number of large solar cell plants in the area, partly on the basis of an overall assessment of the consultation responses, and partly because many areas in the municipality are currently being promoted for solar cell plants.
Committee chairman René Tuekær (L) was the only one to vote against the approval of the plant at Jomfruens Egede.
- There are no decisive changes in the framework for the installation of solar cells in landscapes that can be characterized as manor or estate landscapes despite the new planning law. Finally, enough solar cell parks have been approved in Faxe Municipality, said the committee chairman according to the minutes.
The plant can potentially add 16.2 million to the municipal coffers. DKK for a green pool to be used for sustainable initiatives. The matter will be discussed next in the Economic Committee on February 19th, before it possibly reaches a final decision in the city council on February 27th.
