NKT and Uniper have entered into a power purchase agreement that ensures NKT's supply of electricity from Uniper's new solar cell plant in Wilhelmshaven.

- This agreement marks an important and natural step in our strategic work to decarbonize our activities. By purchasing renewable energy directly from a local solar cell plant, we not only reduce our environmental footprint, we also actively contribute to the regional expansion of renewable energy sources, says Michael C. Hjorth CCO at NKT in a press release. He continues:

- We are experiencing a clear development where customers and partners increasingly expect credible and long-term commitments to renewable energy supply as part of a broader decarbonization of the supply chain. A PPA is today recognized as one of the most robust tools for this purpose.

The agreement marks a significant step for both companies, supporting their sustainability ambitions and increasing the use of regionally produced renewable energy, it continues.

- The project demonstrates how regional renewable energy sources can directly contribute to industrial decarbonization. We are pleased to supply electricity from renewable energy sources to NKT from a plant that in itself represents real transition. At the same time, PPAs provide our partners with long-term price stability, which both creates security and accelerates the energy transition, says Andreas Gemballa, CCO at Uniper Energy Sales.

The planned contractual commercial operation date is set for January 31, 2027.
