Ørsted has appointed Simon Ashley as the new Group HR Director and member of the Group Management with effect from 1 August 2026. He replaces Henriette Fenger Ellekrog, who has decided to end her executive career. Henriette Fenger Ellekrog has been Group HR Director at Ørsted since June 2019 and will step down from the position as of 1 June 2026. Ørsted announced this in a press release.
- Henriette has been a central driving force in the development of Ørsted's organization, and at the same time I look forward to working with Simon in the coming period, says Rasmus Errboe, CEO of Ørsted. He continues:
- Although I am sad that she is leaving us, I fully respect her decision that it is the right time for her to change her working life.
Simon Ashley joins Ørsted after more than 18 years at BP, where he was most recently Senior Vice President for People & Culture with responsibility for two business areas and staff functions, which together include around 15,000 employees globally. Among other things, he has worked with organizational changes related to employees, culture and the working environment.
- I am incredibly pleased to welcome Simon to Ørsted. His extensive experience from a global and complex organization, his solid background in change management and his strong leadership skills will be crucial in our work to deliver on our strategy, says Rasmu Errboe.
Simon Ashley will therefore join on 1 August. Therefore, the HR organization will be temporarily led by Benny Jakobsen, Head of Global HR Business Partnering, Legal & Employee Relations, during the period from 1 June to 1 August. After her resignation, Henriette Fenger Ellekrog will focus on board work.
- After more than 20 years as HR Group Director in four different companies, and as I turn 60 this year, it feels like the right time for me to end my executive career, she says.
