ESBJERG: On Friday, the Esbjerg Concert Hall set the stage for DK Medier's annual DOI conference for the oil, gas and wind industry. The conference is held to give industry professionals the opportunity to network with each other and gain new knowledge through various presentations, but also to mark the publication of the yearbook for the oil, gas and wind industry, Danish Offshore Industry (DOI), which DK Medier publishes.
- It is incredibly important that the offshore industry has some places where they can meet and network, exchange experiences and get good ideas from each other. We would like to facilitate that, says owner of DK Medier, Claus G. Theilgaard.
He is pleased to be able to present another edition of the yearbook for the industry, which celebrated its anniversary last year when the magazine was first published in 1982. This is the third time DK Medier has published DOI, after the company acquired DOI in 2020.
- I can hear from people today that they have received it well and are happy with the magazine. It's funny that in these times, when we have so many digital media, people stand with this in their hands and say "how fantastic is it to have such a nice magazine in their hands", it can do something, says Claus G. Theilgaard.
Presentation on CCS, the opportunities and challenges of the wind industry and local acceptance of renewable energy plants
In addition to the magazine and the opportunity for networking, the approximately 100 industry professionals who attended the Musikhuset in Esbjerg also benefited from professional input from several speakers.
Henrik Frandsen, member of the Danish Parliament, group chairman and climate, energy and supply spokesman for the Moderates, spoke about the government's ambitions for offshore wind. Director and Head of Market and Business Development Offshore Wind for European Energy, Jesper Møller Boye, described the new situation the company found itself in as a result of the closure of the open door scheme. While the head of renewable energy and international cooperation at Green Power Denmark, Camilla Holbech, gave her take on the situation the Danish wind industry is in on top of inflation and the energy crisis.
CCS was also on the agenda, where the CEO of Dansk Offshore, Martin Næsby, spoke about, among other things, the opportunities the new business area opened up for the offshore industry. While TotalEnergies Head of New Business CCS, Morten Stage, and Head of CCS at Ørsted, Lars Bruun Sørensen, spoke about the two companies' various ongoing projects within CCS.
TotalEnergies was also on stage with the technical project manager for the Tyra reconstruction project, Michael Lindholm Larsen, who both gave a status on the reconstruction of the Tyra field, but also spoke about the importance of strong local supply chains in the areas where the company operates.
Another local focus was the presentations from the CEO of Greenlab, Christopher Sorensen, and Søren Møller Christensen, CEO of Baltic Energy Island, who both talked about how they are trying to create local support among citizens in the areas surrounding GreenLab Skive and Energiø Bornholm, respectively. Søren Møller Christensen was pleased with the opportunity to have the industry speak at the DOI conference.
- Thank you for the invitation. It is a pleasure to be here in Esbjerg today, but also a bit of awe. Because what you can do here in Esbjerg is something we also want on Bornholm, he said from the stage.
