Salling Group is planning to build a large solar cell plant at its headquarters in Årslev outside Aarhus.

The company announced this in a press release.

The plant, which will be approximately 50,000 m2, is expected to be ready in 2026 and will deliver 10 million kWh annually, equivalent to the energy consumption of five Bilka warehouses.

The project is part of Salling Group's strategy to increase its own energy production and reduce the company's CO2 footprint with the goal of becoming climate neutral by 2050 at the latest. So far, the company has installed 470 solar cell plants on stores, warehouses and administrative buildings.

- As a company, we have a goal of eliminating the CO2 footprint that our company currently creates from the operation of our stores and other businesses by 2050 at the latest. This means, among other things, that we need to use increasingly more renewable energy, and here the new solar park makes a significant contribution, says Henrik Vinther Olesen, Sustainability Director at Salling Group,

The facility has undergone extensive environmental screening, and only needs the final approval from the Aarhus Municipality Environmental Department before construction can begin.
