NRGi Renewables, owned by NRGi and Sampension, has purchased 25 onshore wind turbines from the investment company SUSI Partners. The wind turbines are located at four locations in Central and Western Jutland and on Lolland and have a total capacity of 89 MW. They produce around 275 GWh of electricity annually, which corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 60,000 households. This is stated by NRGi in a press release.
- We believe in the long-term electrification of Danish society, and this requires investments in the green transition. That is why we are now investing purposefully in reliable plants that already contribute with stable production. With the acquisition, we are also strengthening a portfolio that provides clear advantages in our ongoing operating activities and supports the further expansion of renewable energy plants, says Jakob Bundgaard, CEO of NRGi Renewables.
With the acquisition, the company's total wind portfolio reaches over 200 MW. In total – including solar energy – NRGi Renewables now has a capacity of 380 MW, equivalent to almost 800,000 MWh per year. The portfolio consists of 72 wind turbines and two solar parks. According to the company, the acquisition means that NRGi Renewables is now among Denmark's largest operators and owners of onshore renewable energy plants.
The acquisition comes at a time of challenging market conditions for onshore renewable energy plants, but NRGi Renewables continues to assess that there is a need for more investments in renewable energy in Denmark.
- We work with an investment model where operation and development go hand in hand in Denmark. When we bring together operating plants and new projects in Denmark, we build up the volume that provides economies of scale in operations and a solid foundation for executing on the pipeline of projects we look forward to in the coming years. These are investments that contribute to both a robust energy system and value creation for society, says Jakob Bundgaard.
The transaction is subject to approval from the competition authorities.
