JAMMERBUGT: The plans for an industrial cluster of 52 hectares at Rendbæk Øst in Jammerbugt Municipality were scrapped on Monday morning when a majority of the municipality's Technical and Environmental Committee voted against it. The decision comes, among other things, after extensive citizen protests and demonstrations outside the town hall in Pandrup, where many expressed concern about odors and traffic. This is reported by TV2 Nord.
However, the incoming mayor, Christian Hem (V), and the company BioCirc, which has acted as developer on the project, are not giving up. "Democracy has spoken now, and we follow that, and we respect that. But I also think that there is now a phase between now and then until we have a finance committee meeting, where we can maybe talk a little," says Christian Hem.
The wording is the same at BioCirc, where a spokesperson from the company writes in an email that it is "aware of the concerns that have been raised in the public debate about odor and traffic in connection with the industrial cluster, and there are many statements and assessments in the debate that do not always reflect the actual conditions. We therefore welcome the postponement of the final adoption, and we will continue the dialogue with the local area." The Technical and Environmental Committee also considered a local plan proposal that could pave the way for approximately 816 hectares of solar cells, which a majority voted through, writes TV2 Nord.
