The vast majority of Bornholm are without power in the sockets on Monday morning. This is confirmed by both the utility company Trefor El-net Øst and the local Bornholms Energi og Forsyning (Beof), which has started up its preparedness.

- The whole island is without power, said PR and press manager at Trefor Anya Palm shortly after 08:00.

- We receive a disturbance at 07.49. We sit all the time and monitor the entire electricity network and can see a break in the supply. But we can't see why, she said.

The latest report at 09.30 reads that a third of Bornholm has power again. The expectation is that the whole island is expected to have electricity again around 12.00. However, the power will probably come from the local utility company, as there are reports of faults on a submarine cable. Energinet owns the submarine cable that supplies Bornholm with electricity.

- The cable has come off and we are in the process of finding the fault. We are working hard to find the cause, informs Energinet shortly before 09:30.

Don't know the reason

The first priority on Monday is, according to Trefor, to get the power back into the power grid on Bornholm. After that, it must be clarified what happened. On Monday morning, it is far too early to speculate on what is behind it.

- We are aware that there has been activity around Bornholm in recent weeks, so it is important to say that we do not know what has happened yet. But there is no reason for speculation, it is probably an ordinary power failure, said Anya Palm at 08.30.

Trefor Elnet Øst owns the electricity grid on Bornholm. Locally, Beof is helping to restore power. Here, precautions were taken from the morning.

- We are in the process of starting up our preparedness so that we are ready if necessary, said Klaus Vesløv, who is in charge of communication at Beof.

The local effort got power back in parts of central Rønne at 08.30.

As electricity is produced on the island, the power is sent out to Bornholm households, Trefor informs.
