European Energy has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Apple in Australia. The power will come from the company's Lancaster solar farm in the state of Victoria, which will have a capacity of 108 MW when it is scheduled for completion next year. The Danish developer said in a statement.
- This project reflects the pace at which the development of renewable energy is moving in Australia, says Catriona McLeod, Country Manager for Australia at European Energy.
Australia is a priority market for European Energy, which is working to expand its presence in the country with several solar, wind and battery projects. The agreement with Apple will help bring new green capacity online and support the stability of the national electricity grid.
- Long-term agreements with large energy consumers play a constructive role in enabling projects in renewable energy. When companies make commitments of this nature, it supports investment decisions and promotes the construction of new generation capacity. These partnerships connect demand with new green supply and help drive the broader energy transition, says Jens Peter Zink, Executive Vice President of European Energy.
The Lancaster project is part of Apple's plan to add more than one million MWh of new renewable electricity annually to Australia by 2030.
