CEO of Danske Bank Carsten Egeriis has been given yet another title to boast about. The government has appointed the bank manager as chairman of the climate partnership for the financial sector. Minister of Business and Industry Morten Bødskov (S) is pleased that Egeriis will take on the role, the Ministry of Business and Industry states in a press release.
- It is absolutely crucial that we have strong cooperation with the business community when it comes to accelerating the green transition, he says in the release, adding that he is therefore pleased that Egeriis is ready to take on the chairmanship. In this way, we can maintain a green, Danish leading position and at the same time take into account the challenges of the business community in a time of geopolitical tensions and a new international reality, the minister continues.
The replacement in the chairman's chair takes place after the former chairman, Torben Möger Pedersen, has stopped as CEO of PensionDanmark.
One of 14 partnerships
The government has established 14 climate partnerships together with the business community. Here, they collaborate on initiatives that reduce the business community's greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen the green competitiveness of companies. One of these partnerships deals with the financial sector. This is what Carsten Egeriis now looks forward to leading.
- I would like to thank the minister for the trust. In the financial sector, we are already well underway in enabling greener choices for Danes and supporting companies' transition towards a more sustainable future, he says in the announcement.
The next important step in the partnership is to focus on strengthening the framework conditions for financing the green transition, says Egeriis. According to him, this way we can turbocharge the green transition in Denmark and thus contribute to achieving the government's climate goals in 2030.
