European Energy has entered into a 50-year lease agreement with the Victoria County Navigation District (Port of Victoria) in Texas for a site in the port's North Industrial Park. The company announced this in a statement.

European Energy plans to build a PtX plant, more specifically an e-methanol plant, on the leased site. The upcoming plant is planned to be able to produce around 100,000 tons of e-methanol per year. In e-methanol production, renewable energy from the sun and wind will be used to split water into green hydrogen and oxygen. This green hydrogen will be synthesized on site, together with biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2), to produce e-methanol.

- At European Energy, we understand that trusting strategic partnerships is the way to build lasting relationships that benefit the entire community. The Victoria Port project is an opportunity to expand the positive impact of our innovative technology, which is already transforming energy landscapes in Denmark. We are excited about the prospect of bringing this groundbreaking technology to the Port of Victoria and the surrounding community,” says Jaime Casasus-Bribian, European Energy’s Director of PtX Projects for Americas, Australia & Iberia.

If European Energy decides to make a final investment decision for the project, it will also commit to investing hundreds of millions in port infrastructure, generating more than 200 jobs during construction and 60 permanent local jobs. This is not surprising, bringing joy to the Port.

- We are excited about the prospect of partnering with European Energy, a global leader in the green industry, and are committed to welcoming sustainable jobs and renewable industry through this project, says Sean Stibich, Managing Director of the Port.

In Denmark, European is also operating large-scale e-methanol production. In Kassø near Aabenraa, the development company is on the verge of opening the world's e-methanol plant with a production of 32,000 tons per year.
