CEO of West-Marine A/S Carsten Larsen has reason to be a very happy man, because the Safe Transfer basket, which is an absolute classic in offshore, has been temporarily sold out. It was first produced way back in 1985 for the safe transport of personnel from oil and gas platforms to supply vessels. But time has not run out for the 37-year-old product, which can now also be used in offshore wind. The company writes this in a press release.
- The biggest explanation for the increased interest we are experiencing from abroad is that safety has become a greater focus point for many countries and companies. In addition, we are now seeing a much greater focus from our customers on TCO (total cost of ownership), where our product is completely unique. As a responsible company, you should not compromise on the safety of your employees, and therefore you should choose the safest product on the market. We have been conscious for more than 35 years that we are creating a product that, popularly said, lasts forever.”
On the way to a record year
Although a “sold out” sign has been hanging on the door for a period of 2022, it has not prevented the company from selling a significant number of transfer baskets to a wide range of companies around the world. Carsten Larsen does not want to reveal the exact number of baskets sold, but he is quite sure that it will exceed the previous record.
- The period when we closed for sales has not prevented us from having a really good year, and we are moving closer to a real sales record. We can be really proud of the effort that we have shown throughout 2022, ”says Carsten Larsen.
The Esbjerg-based company announced last year, based on a market survey, that they are the largest supplier of transfer baskets in several parts of the world, where Southeast Asia in particular stood out. The development in sales in recent years with increasing demand from and sales to customers in other parts of the world has strengthened the company's global footprint.
