FREDERIKSHAVN: Almost a year ago, the Port of Frederikshavn collapsed. The economy could not hold together and the municipality had to pick up the pieces and take over a debt of 1.7 billion kroner. Now the local company Orskov Yard is planning to invest half a billion kroner in the port. This is reported by Nordjyske.

The company operates a shipyard at the port and does conversions, service and repairs to ships. The investment will be used for a floating dock of at least 250 meters long, which will give the yard the opportunity to take in even larger ships than today.

Orskov Yard has already entered into a lease agreement with the municipality for a water area for a new dock and the expectation is that the upcoming project can create up to 200 new jobs, the yard estimates. And it will fall on a dry spot in Frederikshavn Municipality, writes Nordjyske.
