Several climate scientists experience that the knowledge they work with affects their mood. This is shown by a survey conducted by Politiken. The newspaper received responses from 281 researchers working on climate and green transition.

42 percent of them respond that knowledge about the climate affects their mood negatively or very negatively. Few are often directly anxious or depressed about the state of the climate, but more than one in four occasionally experience this type of emotion, writes Politiken.

Almost one in three has also experienced conflicts in their private lives when they have shared knowledge about climate and green transition - but not to a great extent. However, 28 percent agree that they sometimes have to restrain themselves and withhold their knowledge in order to avoid conflicts in private contexts. Kirstine Lund Christiansen works as a research assistant at the University of Copenhagen.

She is also part of the coordination group of the Green Research Network, which, according to Politiken, brings together approximately 350 researchers with an interest in climate and green transition.

- When you have that knowledge about the climate on a daily basis, it can be overwhelming, demotivating and to some extent anxiety-provoking, she tells the newspaper.

The survey also shows that a large majority of researchers - exactly 85 percent - are often frustrated by how slowly the world's CO2 emissions are being reduced. More people are trying to live a climate-friendly life themselves. For example, one in five has stopped flying on holiday, writes Politiken. Politiken conducted the survey, which included 23 questions, in March.
