Venezuela has agreed to use the profits from the sale of its oil to purchase only American-made goods. This was announced by US President Donald Trump in a post on his social media, Truth Social.

- The purchases will include, among other things, American agricultural products, American-made pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and equipment to improve Venezuela's electricity grid and energy facilities.

- In other words, Venezuela is committing to trade with the United States as its primary partner - a wise choice and a very good thing for the Venezuelan people and the United States, the president writes.

On Wednesday night, Danish time, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Venezuela will transfer between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States. The oil will be sold at market price, Trump wrote.

The oil trade takes place after US soldiers attacked Venezuela in several places on Saturday and arrested the country's now ousted president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife at their home in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.

Later, Trump stated that Venezuela's enormous oil reserves should no longer be under Venezuelan control, but instead be transferred to the United States.

Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves and is estimated to have about a fifth of global reserves. Yet the country only accounts for about 0.8 percent of global oil production. This is due, among other things, to decades of inadequate maintenance of the oil infrastructure, a lack of international investment and foreign sanctions, which have hit the industry hard.

Venezuela has not yet confirmed Trump's announcement about the purchases of American goods. According to the Reuters news agency, the oil is worth up to two billion dollars.
