Former board members of Frederikshavn Port: We were informed about property transactions

Several former board members of Frederikshavn Port, Jytte Højrup and Leif Midtgaard Pedersen, say that they were informed about the property sale, which Frederikshavn Municipality today describes as illegal. The transactions took place in September 2019, where, according to the municipality, three buildings were included without additional payment in a deal for a fourth building for 9 million DKK without the approval of the board. The property transactions were not registered until 2022 and appear from the port's accounts for 2021, which were presented to both the city council and the finance committee. Nevertheless, the municipality maintains that mistakes have been made. This is reported by TV2 Nord.

The case has led to the expulsion and later summons of the former port director Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen. The port's former chairman of the board, Bo Uggerhøj, and the port's lawyer, Karsten Madsen, have also been summoned. The municipality claims that the port has suffered financial losses and that the three defendants have disregarded their responsibilities. However, if the recollections of several former board members are to be believed, this is not the case.

- I remember clearly that at every board meeting we receive a briefing from the management, and it was already clear at that time that there were four properties involved. It was quite clear, and it was worth 9 million. DKK, so I remember that clearly and distinctly, and that that was what we talked about in relation to the deal with M.A.R.S., says Leif Midtgaard Pedersen, who is a former board member of Frederikshavn Port.

The Social Democratic mayoral candidate in the North Jutland municipality Anders Brandt Sørensen, who was appointed by the city council to the port's board for the period from 2018-2022, also remembers the briefing, which is also evident from minutes from a board meeting in September 2019. However, he does not remember the specific circumstances of the case, he tells TV2 Nord.

- I can see that we were briefed. That was the way it went. We have been informed about this building, and that this is what was being done. We were fully informed about that, he says.

Anders Brandt Sørensen, who is not currently on the city council and therefore does not want to interfere in the council's decisions, calls for the municipality to present the documents on which the case is based. As it stands now, they will only be presented at the trial, which is expected to be decided in the fall of 2026.
