Claus Ekman will take up his position as the new director of the interest organization SYNERGI on February 1. He comes from a position as energy attaché at the Danish Consulate General in Silicon Valley and has previously been director of the Council for Green Transition, deputy head of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and seconded to the OECD representation in Paris. This is stated by SYNERGI in a press release.
- Energy efficiency is an underestimated player not only in the climate fight, but also in the ambitions to reduce high energy bills, free Europe from energy dependence and make ends meet on the journey towards a green energy system. SYNERGI has a large stake in the fact that energy waste is much more on the political radar today than in the past. I look forward to continuing this work and to strengthening the organization's role as a constructive and ambitious voice in the green transition, says Claus Ekman, who is the new director of SYNERGI.
The chairman of the board of SYNERGI, Morten Helveg Petersen, is also looking forward to the collaboration, and he sees the appointment as a scoop.
- Claus Ekman is a really strong profile with an excellent CV and a bit of a scoop for SYNERGI. With his combination of political acumen, technical knowledge and international outlook, he is the right person to further develop SYNERGI's work at a time when the prospects for smarter energy consumption are enormous. Therefore, energy efficiency should move even higher in the political hierarchy in the coming time. We are very much looking forward to the collaboration, he says.
Claus Ekman replaces Katrine Bjerre, who has been at the head of the organization since its establishment in 2018. Bjerre will step down at the end of January.
