The Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade (V), cannot automatically count on support from the Moderates to continue as chairman of the Port of Esbjerg. This is reported by Politiken.
The Moderates' group chairman Henrik Frandsen thus refuses in advance to promise support to the Speaker of the Parliament when the parties in the Parliament are to decide on a proposal from the Unity List on May 14, which would force Søren Gade to step down as chairman of the board of directors of Esbjerg Port if he wishes to continue as chairman of the Parliament.
Søren Gade's supporting role as chairman of the Port of Esbjerg has been criticized in connection with the government's new fleet plan. A consortium of companies at the Port of Esbjerg has signed up and wants to build some of the future ships and frigates for the navy, which the naval plan calls for to be built by Danish shipyards.
