At the initiative of the Port of Hirtshals, the North Sea Research Park and Greenport North, the Danish Ocean Cluster organization has been established. The Port of Hirtshals informs in a press release.
The main purpose of the cluster is to strengthen commercial relations among aquaculture and fisheries-related companies and promote innovative and circular business models, especially in the North Atlantic area.
- A central task for the Danish Ocean Cluster is to inspire even more companies to enter into circular symbioses that reduce waste and reduce the CO2 footprint. We want to bring companies into contact with each other so that new commercial opportunities are created for companies in the maritime sphere, Linn Indrestrand, Head of Fishery & Maritime Services at the Port of Hirtshals, serves as chairman.
The cluster initiative is expected to have a positive effect on all industries in Denmark that work with the supply of equipment and technologies in the "blue" market. The headquarters of the organization is in Hirtshals, but the cluster is a national project that aims to promote the international perspective and relations of Danish companies. A cornerstone of this process will be to prepare companies in Denmark to embrace new industries, including by improving the utilization of resources and the conversion of residual products into raw materials.
Danish Ocean Cluster offers membership to all companies, knowledge institutions and organizations that work with sustainable initiatives within, among other things, fisheries, aquaculture, fisheries technology and industry in Danish fishing ports, as well as innovation within energy and residual raw materials.
