The board of directors of NIRAS Gruppen A/S has appointed 53-year-old Jens Brandt Bering as the new CEO of the group with effect from 1 April 2026. He replaces Carsten Toft Boesen, who after more than 25 years in the position is stepping down at his own request as part of a planned leadership change. The consultancy company announced this in a press release.
Jens Brandt Bering comes from a position as Group CEO of NIRAS and has been part of the company since 2010. Since 2020, he has been responsible for the group's supply activities and managed around 400 specialists within water and energy. He was previously a department manager at Alectia, which later merged with NIRAS, and he has also held a number of industry positions, including in DI Vand and the Association of Consulting Engineers.
- With Jens Brandt Bering we get a CEO with deep business experience and a strong professional understanding of the green transition, and who has shown the ability to create collaboration across the organization, says Lisbeth Knudsen, chairman of the board of NIRAS Gruppen A/S.
The future CEO looks forward to continuing his work in the group, where he has been part of the management for a number of years.
- I am motivated by contributing to socially critical projects together with talented colleagues and partners and by doing so in an environment characterized by trust and autonomy, says Jens Brandt Bering, who is CEO of NIRAS.
Carsten Toft Boesen continues his association with the company through board work in the NIRAS Foundation. He is also pleased that the replacement has been found internally.
- Finally, it means a lot to me to be able to pass the baton on to Jens, whom I have seen grow, take over and develop into the ideal successor he is over the past 15 years. In fact, I would see it as a management failure if NIRAS could not, after 25 years with me as boss, present a fully capable internal candidate.
At the end of 2024, the NIRAS Group had 3,170 full-time employees. Revenue increased the same year to 3,942 million DKK, while the EBITA result was 158 million DKK.
