Maabjerg Biogas invests DKK 100 million. DKK in refining plants

13. SEP 2024 14.15

An investment of 100 million DKK in a refining plant, when it is completed in the summer of 2026, will help Maabjerg Biogas in West Jutland earn more money from their green gas. It writes Dagbladet Holstebro-Struer.

- Right now we are selling gas for electricity production, and it is not so appropriate because we do not get an additional price for the green gas. If we sell it instead on the European gas network, we will get an additional price, but that requires us to get the CO2 out of the gas, says director of Maabjerg Biogas, Claus Lindholt Mikkelsen, to the media.

The refining plant will not only make the gas more valuable, the CO2 that is extracted will also become a valuable resource in the future.

- It is about making use of CO2, and I think that within a period of between five and eight years it can become at least as valuable as biogas, the director estimates.
