Maabjerg Biogas invests DKK 100 million in refining facilities

13. SEP 2024 14.15

An investment of DKK 100 million in a refining plant, when completed in the summer of 2026, will help Maabjerg Biogas in West Jutland earn more money from their green gas. This is reported by Dagbladet Holstebro-Struer.

- Right now we sell gas for electricity production, and it is not very appropriate because we do not get a premium for the green gas. If we sell it instead on the European gas grid, we get a higher price, but that requires us to get the CO2 out of the gas, says director of Maabjerg Biogas, Claus Lindholt Mikkelsen, to the media.

The refinery will not only make the gas more valuable, but the CO2 that is extracted will also become a valuable resource in the future.

- It's about utilizing CO2, and I believe that within a period of between five and eight years it can become at least as valuable as biogas, the director estimates.
