AARHUS: After shore power was introduced in the Port of Aarhus in 2023, there has been a decrease in the emission of harmful air pollutants. This is stated in a new report from the National Center for Environment and Energy at Aarhus University.

When cruise ships dock in the summer months, several of them connect to shore power, which helps reduce air pollution, as the ships' diesel engines are therefore not idling when they are in port, writes TV2 Østjylland.

- Locally, a decrease of up to 40 percent in nitrogen is seen. In comparison, the reduction is a few percent nitrogen in the city center, so the reduction is quite small there, says Anne Sofie Lansø.
