On Monday, some of the opening lines were written to make Danish oil and gas history.

The Danish Energy Agency has thus approved that Wintershall Nordzee B.V. will cease oil and gas production on the Ravn field, thereby disconnecting pipelines and supply lines, and finally decommissioning and thus removing the field's jacket and platform. The decommissioning of the Ravn field will be the first full decommissioning of an oil and gas field in Denmark, the Danish Energy Agency said in a press release.

The Ravn field is located in the Danish part of the North Sea, approximately 245 km from the Danish west coast in licenses 5/06 and 2/16, and is primarily an oil field.

The Ravn field has been developed with an unmanned oil production platform that is connected to the German A6-A platform with two pipelines and a supply line. The production from the Ravn field has been handled and processed on the A6-A platform.

The Ravn platform and associated installations were built in 2015, and the Ravn field has produced in the period between 2017 and 2020. Wintershall announced in December 2021 that it wanted to cease all activities in the Ravn permits.

The activities related to the disconnection of pipelines and supply line and decommissioning of the jacket and platform are planned to begin in June 2024 and are expected to be completed before the end of September 2024.
