Harco Heavy Lifting turns business model upside down after strategic shift

Harco Heavy Lifting in Måde near Esbjerg has changed its business significantly in just a few years, after the company invested purposefully in a new rental model rather than traditional project sales. Today, rental is a larger revenue stream than the sale of project-specific solutions. It writes JydskeVestkysten.

The company supplies lifting and stabilization solutions to the offshore wind industry and has previously had the majority of its revenue tied up in individual projects. After investments in equipment, organization and skills in 2025, Harco has built an independent rental business based on standardized modules that can be used across projects.

- In 2025, we made a conscious decision to change our business model. Instead of exclusively selling project-specific solutions, we have built a professional rental business. We can now see very clear results from that decision, says Jørgen Henriksen, Chief Revenue Officer at Harco Heavy Lifting.

According to the company, standardization has significantly reduced the time for preparing installation vessels. Where preparations could previously take up to a year, the process can now in some cases be completed in a few weeks. Harco also states that the solutions today consist of around 80 percent standard modules and 20 percent project customization, which has reduced downtime and made mobilization and demobilization faster. According to the company, the strategic shift has created a more robust business foundation in an offshore wind industry that continues to grow. At the same time, Harco Heavy Lifting will also focus on onshore projects in the future, including in Germany and Sweden.
