With the goal of reducing the number of drowning accidents in Danish ports, the government has previously appointed a number of experts to the Expert Committee for Port Safety. The committee is now ready with a number of recommendations that may contribute to fewer deaths after falling into port basins. This is stated by the Ministry of Transport in a press release.
The recommendations will now be disseminated to the public so that everyone has the opportunity to relate to them. At the same time, the expert group will continue its work as an annual sparring group, where the members will continue to work to increase safety around port basins and urban areas by water. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen is very pleased with the recommendations.
- Every single drowning accident in a Danish port is a tragedy. That is why we have asked some of the most knowledgeable players in the field to come up with recommendations to reduce the number of drowning accidents. I will now take the recommendations further in the government's work. The challenge of drowning accidents will not be solved in a snap. We as citizens, municipalities and the state can all do something, and I am pleased that the recommendations are raising awareness of this, says Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen (V).
